Lovely sharing of streams of thought, friendship, being strong (loved the sign). I enjoy your writings so I hope you do continue to post when you feel the urge. I can relate to your thoughts about writing, sharing, putting things out there- you summed up a lot of my feelings around my sharing. I like the personal nature that this platform (with people like youI) can bring.

“its a VP choice to win Pa. (and yes this time next week i believe it must be Josh Shapiro if only because of the stern electoral math involved and the lack of luxury we have to second guess EVERY FUCKING UN-WOKE DECISION we make, i have seen enough of the bashing of guys like James Carville old and white like me but close in to the mud-spattered mind-set of rural working people nickle and dimed and taken for granted and now the moderation must begin if just to win this thing) or the calm assurance of a first for women taking the the top leadership position on the planet.”

I’m really surprised your intuition and Yankee utilitarianism didn’t override the cognitive dysfunction and electoral mathematical miscalculation on display in this paragraph.

First of all, choosing the only proposed running mate who would dampen enthusiasm among the base, wreak havoc at the convention, and diminish Democrats ability to hold the Great Lakes states, PA included, is NOT an un-woke decision that can be second guessed. Presumably, It’s a proposal that should be resisted with every fiber of our being.

The majority of Democratic voters want a cease-fire in Gaza. Shapiro is perceived to be too pro-Israel. Yesterday, he had to admit he lied in a student paper editorial about volunteering for the Israel army, taking sides with Netanyahu’s radical right after Rabin negotiated the Oslo Accords, a heroic act of diplomacy for which he was assassinated.

Shapiro is shitty on labor, the PA Teacher’s Union can’t stand him.

Shapiro is urban, he has no appeal to rural voters.

Shapiro compared student activists protesting the war in Gaza at Penn to Nazis. Actually, his statement was more nuanced than that, but politics doesn’t do nuance.

Kamala already has Shapiro voters locked up. She’s being mentored by Obama, who would NEVER make such an egregious political blunder.

Yesterday, this bit of psychological warfare was foisted on the “Anyone but Shapiro“ wing of the party. In a video promoting the kick-off of Kamala’s campaign in the City of Brotherly Love, the Mayor of Philadelphia endorsed Shapiro in a manner that implied he’s already been chosen. If it turns out to be correct, RFK Jr just got himself a big bump in the polls.

hmmm not great with links and for some reason your email doesnt show up but i'd send you some stuff ive read that shows Shapiro outperforming in past in rural GOP areas of Pa.

The VP rarely affects election results but in this case (and i wish Obama was here to debate) Pa. is the weakest link in the Wisconsin-Michigan-PA blue wall

no one gives a fuck about what he said or wrote in 1993 just like GOP let the Cavanaugh and Vance stuff slide (far worse)

sure Waltz and Kelly look better as non jew leader of free worldwhite men if Kamala is rendered

incapacitated but john

i think we have moved wayyy past that and if not we lose in Nov.

anyways

Dearborn Mi. gonna be pissed but if Big Gretch can't put out that fire we may not deserve to win

“ hmmm not great with links and for some reason your email doesnt show up but i'd send you some stuff ive read that shows Shapiro outperforming in past in rural GOP areas of Pa.”

Don’t bother with that link. The “firestorm” ignited: by Cherelle Parker’s “leak”, turned out to be a lit fart extinguished by the gale winds of reality.

Shapiro has 49% rating in PA. Harris has taken a narrow lead in the polls there.

“ The VP rarely affects election results but in this case (and i wish Obama was here to debate) Pa. is the weakest link in the Wisconsin-Michigan-PA blue wall”

Obama is probably the one who decided this. It’s unlikely he’d choose the only proposed candidate who would divide the party.

“ no one gives a fuck about what he said or wrote in 1993 just like GOP let the Cavanaugh and Vance stuff slide (far worse)”

Obviously bShapiro gives a fuck or he wouldn’t have walked back his support for Netanyahu. While Vance has turned out to be an embarrassment to Trump, whatever negative impact it has on his odds of winning would pale in comparison to Shapiro’s.

“ sure Waltz and Kelly look better as non jew leader of free worldwhite men if Kamala is rendered”

This is a false narrative being pushed by Trump. Opposition to the war in Gaza is NOT antisemitic.

“ Dearborn Mi. gonna be pissed but if Big Gretch can't put out that fire we may not deserve to win”

There’s a college in Dearborn as well as a large Muslim population.. Whitmer isn’t the one who should be putting out what would be an act of self-immolation by Harris

We’re both making a case for whoever will better help Kamala win. If Shapiro IS selected at least there will be a billion dollars worth of campaign funds.

Happy to read you again and hope you share or at least approve of some of the excitement that appears to be coursing through the land with the Harris/Walz nomination.

My maternal aunt and uncle had a cottage on Lake Superior and I remember visiting them when I was maybe 12 but we didn’t do any fishing. My father usually went fishing alone, out on the Willow River. He took me with him once and we walked up-and-downstream for what seemed such a long time. He had no luck. I cast my line once and caught a small trout. He never took me fishing again.

Hope your WiFi improves and you keep writing!

It was on the western side of the lake, the Minnesota side, close to some national forest type of land. It was something-harbor and at the time there were few cottages there.

maybe Two Harbors north of Duluth? i need to explore over that way but its hard enough plowing into the Keweenaw to north let alone over towards the Porcupines on Wisconsin border 🤒

It might have been. Can’t say for certain. I was 11-12 and just went where my parents went. I do remember driving past some place that was processing taconite tailings.
